NREGA will work only when states implement it:Rahul

The Congress-led government’s job guarantee programme under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) may be pro-poor but it will work only if state governments implement it well, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi said on October 15.“In Congress-ruled states like Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Assam and in other states, it is implemented well and there are others where it is not. The Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) of Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi allotted a new party symbol -- rising sun. The party had applied for new symbol as it was not happy with the “rail engine” symbol on which it fought the recent elections to the Andhra Pradesh assembly and the Lok Sabha. The party, which bagged only 18 seats in 294-member assembly and drew a blank in Lok Sabha elections, identified the confusion among voters over the symbol as one of the reasons for its poor show.
