Diwali in Pink city

Diwali in Pink city

India is a country of festivals, out of all the various festivals that Indians celebrate the most popular and elaborate festival is Diwali.  The festivities commence from Dushera  and are celebrated with immense joy and fervor. Diwali’s recurrence every year doesn’t deter from the festivities to soar and escalate every passing year when everybody rushes and waits impatiently to worship the goddess of wealth Laxmi and bring forth the celebration and this festival.

Cruelty is a Virtue?

Cruelty is a Virtue?

These days – or has it always been so? – it is really hard to be kind to someone. There is a tendency in people to mind their own businesses and go their own way. Fashion really is your attitude

Fashion really is your attitude

In an interview of the Venezuelan top designer Carolina Herrera that I read in a much prized copy of Harper’s Bazaar, I finally understood what everyone had been talking about. She has had it in every collection of hers ever since she fell in love with them.

You are what you wear

You are what you wear

So my favourites are pants. Or jeans. But that’s me. I should try to bring on my own attitude when I wear those. My African friend wears her with her butt sticking out in a sexy manner while I have conditioned myself to walk upright so as to take pride in my curves. Many people like it when women of all shapes and bosom sizes walk upright with pride and don’t hunch. An apt example here would be of Queen Latifah who has stuck to her guns and whom I admire a lot.

Almost 100 years ago John G Hardy founded the company which today holds the undisputed position of market leader for the supply of elegant country fabrics. The UGG Boot

The UGG Boot

Boots travelled a long way from being a staple accessory of equestrians and on a lower scale being associated with savage westerns in Southern American states. Boots were obviously the essential item in ones winter wardrobe to be worn over the jeans tucking them hence doing the double duty of providing comfort from the cold and for being fashionable.

Powerplaying India: Contesting integration with secession

Powerplaying India: Contesting integration with secession

In India everyone’s entitled to a point of view and depending on what part of this nation you reside in and draw your identity from, anything that you have to say about the world is always going to sound like a very personalized opinion piece. But if you happen to read Power & Contestation -India since 1989, you have a reason to rejoice. It’s an experience that’s akin to getting a toothbrush free with the purchase of toothpaste.
